01 Kreuzberg

02 Neukölln

Nord-Neukölln, vor allem Reuterkiez und Schillerkiez, hat sich in 15 Jahren vom gemiedenen Bezirk zum Lieblingsziel junger Besucher entwickelt. Die Mischung macht den Reiz aus: arabische Konditoreien neben Naturweinbars, Shisha-Cafés neben Galerien. Northern Neukölln, especially the Reuterkiez and Schillerkiez, went from avoided district to favorite destination of younger visitors within 15 years. The mix is the draw: Arabic patisseries next to natural wine bars, shisha cafés next to galleries.

03 Prenzlauer Berg

Sanierte Altbauten, Kopfsteinpflaster, Cafés mit Kuchen im Glassturz. Prenzlauer Berg ist das schönste Wohnzimmer der Stadt und tagsüber voller Familien. Der Sonntagsflohmarkt am Mauerpark zieht halb Berlin an, samt Karaoke im Amphitheater bei gutem Wetter. Renovated old buildings, cobblestones, cafés with cake under glass domes. Prenzlauer Berg is the prettiest living room in the city and full of families during the day. The Sunday flea market at Mauerpark draws half of Berlin, including open-air karaoke in the amphitheater when the weather plays along.

04 Friedrichshain

Friedrichshain hat die East Side Gallery, das längste erhaltene Stück Berliner Mauer, und rund um das RAW-Gelände und die Revaler Straße eine der höchsten Club- und Bardichten der Stadt. Der Boxhagener Platz mit seinem Wochenmarkt und dem Sonntagsflohmarkt ist das zivile Herz des Bezirks. Friedrichshain has the East Side Gallery, the longest preserved stretch of the Berlin Wall, and around the RAW grounds and Revaler Straße one of the highest densities of clubs and bars in the city. Boxhagener Platz with its weekly market and Sunday flea market is the district's civilian heart.

05 Charlottenburg

Der alte Westen: breite Straßen, das Schloss Charlottenburg, der Kurfürstendamm mit dem KaDeWe in Laufweite. Charlottenburg war das Schaufenster West-Berlins und wirkt bis heute erwachsener als der Osten der Stadt. Rund um die Kantstraße reihen sich chinesische und taiwanesische Restaurants aneinander. 06 Wedding

Über den Wedding sagen Berliner seit 20 Jahren, er komme jetzt. Er kommt in seinem eigenen Tempo. Der Bezirk ist rau, günstig und ehrlich, mit dem Plötzensee als Badesee im Sommer und einer wachsenden Zahl kleiner Cafés und Ateliers rund um die Malplaquetstraße. Berliners have been saying for 20 years that Wedding is about to take off. It takes off at its own pace. The district is rough, cheap and honest, with lake Plötzensee for summer swimming and a growing number of small cafés and studios around Malplaquetstraße.
